Eight Lives Down are an international four-piece progressive extreme metal band, founded by Greek-Kiwi vocalist and lyricist Aliki Katriou and completed by bassist Marcin Orczyk, guitarist Paul Allain and drummer Jean-Philippe Louvancour.

Their sound has its roots in Thrash and Groove Metal, but Eight Lives Down throw it all into a progressive whirlwind of wildly diverse influences. Death and Black Metal rub shoulders with raw Punk, NWoBHM, Blues and even traditional Folk, while unconventional time signatures and song structures keep things constantly shifting.

Aliki's vocals range from deep growls and high screams to clean singing and operatic passages. Combined with crushing riffs, prominent, grooving bass lines and complex drum parts, the result is a sound unmistakably their own: uncompromisingly heavy and aggressive, refreshingly different – and always unpredictable.

Fittingly, Eight Lives Down's members are a motley crew of different nationalities, hailing from Greece, New Zealand, France and Poland. They are currently based in Croatia, Spain and the UK.

Eight Lives Down are known for their energetic live performances, proven at shows across the UK, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland and France. In 2019, they reached the semi-finals of Metal2TheMasses London as well as the finals of the Female Metal Event (FemME) battles in the Netherlands.

In March 2020, Eight Lives Down opened for legendary Norwegian black metal act Ancient at their exclusive UK show in London. More gigs were booked in Switzerland, Spain, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands before the Covid-19 pandemic changed everything.

On a more positive note, 2020 also saw the much-anticipated release of their debut album, HUMANS, through Cult of Parthenope on September 5. HUMANS explores aspects of the human condition and mental tendencies. Perspectives are often shifted within songs, jumping from rage to fear to sociopolitical statements and the confusion they cause. This is reflected in music that plays with time signatures, song structures and a broad variety of musical influences. Mixed and mastered in Germany by Dan Baune at Noise Foundry Productions, HUMANS received widespread critical acclaim.

In July 2022, Eight Lives Down returned to the stage with a bang, playing two co-headliner shows in Belgium and Germany with Israeli progressive symphonic metal band Scardust. In November of the same year, they performed at the renowned Bremer Metal Fest (B:M:F).
In 2023, they continued playing internationally, including appearances at the official W:O:A Warm-up Show in Bremen, Germany, the FemME Festival in the Netherlands and the Queens & Metal Babes Festival in Belgium.

Meanwhile, the band worked relentlessly on a new, even more progressive and intricate album, FATES, which they independently released on March 28, 2025. Their second studio album was once again mixed by Dan Baune, now at Tectonic Tone, and mastered by Rasmus Andersen at Raw Sound Studio in the UK. Like its predecessor, FATES earned praise from reviewers around the world.

After the recording of FATES, founding member Rodrigo Moraes Cruz sadly had to part ways with the band after having done his magic on the drum kit for more than nine years. His musical and personal influence helped shape Eight Lives Down and will forever remain part of the band.

Following a rather long hiatus – mainly due to the arrival of a baby in one family, a move to a new house and country in another, as well as increased workloads for everyone – 2026 finally saw Eight Lives Down return to the stage, featuring their new drummer Jean-Philippe (JP) Louvancour for the first time.
